From April 29 – May 1, explore the science happening all around you—whether you’re in a library, a brewery, a park, or your own neighborhood. These community STEAM events are open to everyone, and you don’t need to be a ‘science person’ to enjoy them. Just bring your curiosity!
Community STEAM Events come in all shapes and sizes, and are for everyone, even adults. Whether you’re looking for hands-on fun, creative inspiration, or a chance to explore the outdoors, there’s something for everyone. Here are just a few ways to join the celebration:
Types of Events
Be a Scientist
Get inspired to see science in your everyday life and discover how it connects to the world around you with our Be a Scientist series. These events have featured thrilling experiences like conversations with real NASA astronauts and scientists, test driving soap box derby cars, tours of the Franklin County Morgue, baking bagels, building rockets, and much more. Whether you’re a science enthusiast or just curious, join us for exciting, hands-on adventures that spark wonder and show that science is for everyone.
Adult Science Series
Discover that you’re never too old to have fun with science at our Adult Science Series. From science trivia and brewery tours to engaging talks and hands-on experiments, these events are designed for adults who want to explore, learn, and connect. Whether you’re a lifelong learner or just looking for a fun night out, these events bring science to life with social fun, cocktails, and mingling. No science background needed—just bring your curiosity and enjoy the adventure. Note: Some events may require 21+ to attend.
Creative Sparks
Dive into the vibrant world where creativity and science collide! Both arts and science are driven by a common spark—curiosity, imagination, and a desire to understand and express the world around us. These events make science more accessible by highlighting its connection to art. Whether it’s a performing scientist or an artist painting stunning murals of lizards, Creative Sparks events celebrate the stories, visuals, and performances that bring STEAM to life. You don’t need to be a scientist or an artist—just come ready to be inspired.
Science Block Party
Invite the whole neighborhood for an unforgettable science block party with live music, delicious food trucks, and hands-on science stations. These large-scale events are designed to be fun, welcoming, and full of energy—perfect for families, friends, and curious minds of all ages. Whether you’re a science fan or just looking for a great community event, these block parties offer something for everyone. Come explore, connect, and celebrate the excitement of discovery in a lively, inclusive atmosphere.
Career Lab
Discover your future in a STEAM career! Dive into hands-on workshops, career fairs, and expert-led panels where you’ll connect with industry leaders, develop real-world skills, and explore exciting career paths in science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Whether you’re a student, young professional, or simply exploring new possibilities, these events are designed to spark curiosity and help you take the next step. No matter your background, you’ll find inspiration and opportunity in every session.
Outdoor Exploration
Step outside and uncover the science of the great outdoors! Whether you’re hiking scenic trails, planting spring flowers, or exploring local parks, our Outdoor Exploration series brings science to life in nature. Join expert naturalists and outdoor enthusiasts for hands-on experiences that reveal the secrets of Ohio’s ecosystems. These events include BioBlitz activities, where you can help document local plants and animals—contributing to real scientific research just by snapping photos.
